Proverbs 11:22
As a jewel of gold in a swine's snout,
so is a fair woman which is without discretion.
It is ridiculous to "dress up" a pig.
Solomon gives us a clear picture in this Proverb.
Just as it is silly to bejewel a pig,
so it is foolishness for a beautiful woman to be without discretion.
Discretion?
perception, intelligence, sound judgment, reason, understanding,
circumspection, the ability to make responsible decisions
How about you and me?
Where is the emphasis?
Outward beauty?
or inward strength and wisdom?
The beauty is not condemned;
it just needs to be part of the package,
not the whole package.
