My morning is a little busier on Friday, since I need to be out of the house by 8:45;
thus I do not usually post on Fridays.
Perhaps you would like to be involved.
Perhaps you can help me.
My brother used to like to propose a "Bizarre Question of the Day."
I hope mine won't be so bizarre but will be fun and informative.
I promise that if the idea flops - the Friday Forums will end in December.
Question of the day:
What is your "go-to" ministry meal?
or
What is the ministry meal you received
that was the greatest blessing?
A ministry meal is one that you take to shut-ins, sick folks, families with new babies.
All answers will be posted in the comment section :)
I like the chicken pot pie because it can be brought warm and heated right back up, or put in the oven later to accomodate a varying dinner time. It is also scalable, and has most of the dinner in one dish. :)
ReplyDeleteAs for meals we recieved, they have all been a great blessing!
Thanks for being the first to participate - I often forget about pot pie - it is so satisfying - and the one dish is PERFECT!
DeleteYou're welcome! I was checking in to see how the answers were coming. Friday is a busy day, but people have the weekend to answer.
DeleteIf special diets aren't specified, I like making chicken soup with lots of veggies, dinner rolls, and an apple crisp.
DeleteMy mom told me that you had a blog quite awhile ago, but I wasn't able to view it at the time. Thanks to your brother's link, I was able to find you here. Your posts are encouraging, Sandra. I hope to visit here again soon.
Rachel, sounds like the perfect fall meal and so healthy! Perfect for so many occasions.
DeleteGlad you could visit - nice to have you :)
My actual meals vary but one thing I try very hard to do is to make sure there are no dishes for the recipient to remember to return. I made scalloped potatoes, green beans, and meatballs with beef gravy once for someone and it was such a hit that she mentioned it as a request when her next child was born. Haha! But I made use of disposable dishes and my old Coolwhip containers to take it in. (if I use Gladware-type plastic containers people feel like they need to return them.)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite meal that someone brought us was beef stew and still-warm chocolate chip cookies. Yum!
Hope that is helpful!
I forget about scalloped potatoes - I throw ham in to make it a one dish wonder - it would be perfect with some green beans.
DeleteThanks for the reminder about the dishes - I need to save more and recycle in a profitable way:)
Thanks for stopping by ... it was nice to meet you!
This morning, beef stew sounds like a perfect dish - very thick frost here in NC.
Karen and I remember (when Kaylyn was born) that a family brought in 2 quart jars of Vegetable beef soup and bread. This provided two meals since it was just 2 of us at that time. The meal was complete without dishes to be taken back and left around our small kitchen. It was brought warm so the dad did not have to know how to cook while mom was recovering... I guess I echo melissa a bit.
ReplyDeleteI do see the common theme - I guess the ease of cleanup and lack of return dishes is a big part of the blessing :)
