I typically try to open my Sunday School class by asking the students what they are thankful for:
Typical answers include ...
Mom,
Dad,
Friends,
Breakfast,
Warm Clothes.
Then I ask what they should be thankful for that is hard:
Siblings,
Veggies,
Bedtimes.
How about being thankful for what I don't have?
A little harder still.
A large bank account.
A new car,
Children.
Or perhaps not so hard?
Cancer,
Blindness,
Hunger,
Homelessness,
Hopelessness.
