Friday Forum: The Local Library

I worked at a local library during my last years of high school.
It was a great job.

When hubby was at sea, I spent much time walking to our local library
in Washington for the exercise and to borrow books by the score.
I read about relationships, health, child training, exercise, fiction, biographies ...

Our library here in NC is a little weak, in my opinion;
but I have been using it this week ...
free internet ...
some exercise dvds ...
some Christmas books to read during our holiday travels ...
and some informational books to fill the evenings when hubby is at training.

How about you?
Is your local library a treasure?
Perhaps you are a collector of books and your home is the library?

  1. Our Library does have some rare "gems" that our children have enjoyed, but we have chosen to fill our shelves with books at home that they can read to save trips to the Library.
    Our library is a major source of information for gardening as we branch out into that arena.
    The access to the internet has, on occasion, been a help, but we prefer to have access at home that can be filtered more strictly than the Library will do.

  2. I am thankful for our small village library. It is limited, but am glad it is there.

  3. Our home is a library, and Kindles make for instant books cheaper than the gas money to get to town. We could combine trips and do the library when we were in town, but then our trips get to be too long and the younger kids lose patience with our travels. It is nice to know that it is there, but we probably have gotten down to visiting less than once a year.
