Side by Side Comparison

Proverbs 9:13
 A foolish woman is clamorous:
she is simple, and knoweth nothing.

Clamorous and simple.
More traits to avoid.
When I originally read this verse, I saw "clamorous" and thought "LOUD".
Indeed the foolish, strange woman was described as loud in chapter 8.
As I grabbed my dictionary, I noticed that there was more to it.
Clamorous can be confusion, and causing confusion.
This woman brings or breeds confusion -
perhaps she thrives on it.
I am sure that you can think of some people like this,
perhaps they even admit to it,
perhaps it even describes you.
Obviously, God does not value this trait.
My life should be marked by order and peace brought about
by the proper focus (on God and His Word) and disciplined planning.
Not always easy, but necessary.

Simple.
This woman has little to offer but death and destruction. (see the last verse of chapter 9)
She knows nothing.
Perhaps she is only taken with clothes and her appearance,
but it may be another area.
A Biblical woman, a Biblical wife will seek to have knowledge.
It may not be book knowledge, or involve advanced schooling,
but she seeks to know things and to improve her mind.
Why?
to strengthen and challenge her husband in his personal growth,
to teach her children,
to minister in many situations and to many different people,
to benefit her local church,
to teach the younger women (Titus 2),
to remain profitably busy (not idle).

Avoiding confusion and lack of knowledge -
worthy goals for today.
