Joy or Grief

Proverbs 17:21,25
He that begetteth a fool doeth it to his sorrow:
and the father of a fool hath no joy.
A foolish son is a grief to his father,
and bitterness to her that bare him.

There is something far worse than a home void of children.
There is something that seems more painful than infertility.

Oh the sadness, grief, and pain associated with a foolish child.
Not just immaturity ...
not just silliness ...
but foolishness!
The foolish child is
an embarassment,
a burden,
a trial ...

The only way to avoid this foolishness is with Biblical discipline and correction.
The path of "least resistance" which many parents choose will not do it.
Parenting is hard work.
Parenting is not convenient.
Parenting is not for cowards.
The rewards of doing right are worth the effort.
